Whoever invented that Black Friday Sale strategy is surely a marketing genius.   People swarmed into the shopping centers as soon as they had finished their Thanksgiving dinner, trying to get the desires of their heart with the least payment.

Our life is short, but our need is simple

The world is hungry everywhere. In the poverty-stricken nations people struggle for food and water, while in the affluence countries we are taunted by inedible gadgets – fancy clothing, jewelry, make-ups, cars, wide screen TV’s, reading tablets, IPod, IPad, IPhone, and the endless list of  I,I, I’s.

The Devil is Cunning, but children of God are not stupid

We cannot see the devil and his demons, but they observe our every action, our speech, and our dealing with our surroundings, and they see our desires.  They use all their tactics to attack our mind, our emotion, and our physical body constantly to draw us to surrender to him. We are children of God, and the Lord covers us with His blood; by staying close to God, He will guide us and keep us from temptations of this carnal world.

Materialism is a deadly Snare

Live within mean. Keeping up with the Jones is stressful.  A sweater is just a sweater to keep one warm; a regular cup and a fancy expensive cup are just cups to hold water, coffee, and tea and they can’t change the quality of the beverage. Most of us don’t need an IPhone with all its fancy apps; a regular cellular phone is sufficient when it is for the sole purpose of talking to someone.

Not to conform to this world, not even to our own desire, but to God

Seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33).  All that is in the world is not originated from the Father, and it will vanish without a trace one day (1 John 2:16); therefore, keep our eyes on Our Lord, and wear a the complete suite of spiritual armor to stand firm amid the evil force (Ephesians 6: 13-17). Obey God.  Discipline our body, our mind, and our desire by drawing wisdom from His word daily, praise Him, give Him thanksgiving, offer to Him our prayer and supplication.

… I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:12-13
